Just a quickie post to pimp my friend’s new business: hand-made steel mousepads.
I got mine the other day, and it is pure hot-rolled steel gaming sweetness. It’s lovely and heavy and works great, plus he custom-stamped with my battle-cry.
At least, I’d like that to be my battle-cry. It’s rare that I pwn anyone and even rarer that I frohwn them. But I can dream.
If you want one, and you should, check out his site, Greensforged.com. There are all sorts of shapes to pick from, including the Ravenholm-style sawblade. They’re really neat, and I’m not just saying this because he’s a friend, but because they’re really neat. You should order 100,000 of them.
Speaking of friends who are way more talented and motivated than me, my pal Zompist has published his popular and useful Language Construction Kit in book form! Real made-of-paper book form! The LCK is not just a great resource for you fiction and fantasy writers, but also for game designers who are looking to create believable and naturalistic languages for your gameworld.
I know, I know, traditionally fantasy and sci-fi gameworlds are populated by people speaking English with English accents, but think game designers can do a little better, and this book could definitely help.
It still exists online here if you’d like a taste, but the book version has loads more material and information. It’s available on amazon if you’re keen. Zomp also blogs quite a bit, and quite a bit of that is about gaming.
As for me, well, someday I’ll have something to sell you. This I so swear.

Sexy. I’m highly tempted to get one. You having the exact same mouse as me is definitely influencing my decision as I now have a picture of exactly how nice my mouse would look sitting on one of these quality pieces of craftsmanship… If I can think up a decent phrase to put on it I’ll pick one up.

Sell the complete concerned series in one big comic book, that’d be awesome!

Oh Chris, you’re only meant to shamelessly plug products when you’ve got your own chat show, you’re two steps behind.
Are those mouse pads beig shipped internationally? Would love one but may see rammifications in the form of both costs and UK customs wondering why I’ve imported a small piece of steel for no apparent reason.

Always cool to see people using the same mouse :P
Although half the planet has a Logitech G5.

That something someday should’ve been a Concerned-book :(

I would kill and eat three men to have a Concerned book.
But I might also kill and eat three men for fun, if you catch me on a good day.
Maybe.

Chris went over this, he was offered by Valve to publish Concerned, but because he had made the comics in a weird resolution, he couldn’t easily port the pictures to paper without losing quality, and fixing it would of literally required him to make the Comic from Scratch. Anyways, G5 ftw and whatnot.
