The Demoman on Shacknews

I’m planting some sticky bombs over on Shacknews, where they’ve picked up my Demoman columns as a weekly feature.  They plan to run it every Sunday, so head over now to check out the first one, in which I curve some bullets at the bloody Wanted: Weapons of Fate demo.   You can read the column here.  Thanks to Nick and everyone at Shacknews for giving me a shot!

I should be back to semi-regular posting here at First-Person Shouter this week.  Sorry for the lack of posts.

I just saw that on shacknews, didn’t even know you had started this new blog till I saw it cause I haven’t been keeping up on all my blogs. Great that you’re going to have a column there- it’s one of the few gaming publications i still respect.

Hey, congrats on making your way into the Shack. Hope it’s not your last column there.

Way to finally sell out to them ;) I know just how much you abused the english language for them last time.

This is getting sad Chris. You are now going to be posting more often for someone elses site, than for your own blog. Sad indeed.

@HyperKUltra:

What? Why is it sad that Chris is getting more exposure? How is it sad that he is posting on a very popular news site now? I don’t understand why you think this is “sad”.

Good for you Chris. Make sure to give Nondrick some time also.

Awesome. So, Shacknews is back to its former awesome status, rather than slightly less awesome?

I can’t help but feel sad that Chris is working for Shacknews, because this is the Horrible Truth- he probably won’t post much here anymore. I mean, we didn’t even get a week-ender on Friday! It almost seems as if Chris is pulling away from this website already.

I think that game would probably make me go cry in a closet because my self-confidence would be so ruined.

I thought my RSS was lying when I saw it on Shack, then when it loaded I thought Shack was ripping you off. Then I was like sfjgkdgflkjdhj

I signed off on the entire franchise the moment I heard they were dropping Shithead and Fuckwit. Unforgivable.
@Gryphon, don’t get so protective. HyperKUltra is just worried about what will happen to this site. Calm down.
On a lighter note, great article, congratulations :)

Well done! I now have to head over there and subscribe to the RSS feed :)

Good on ya Chris! Great Demoman. I also just realized what bitches some of the Shacknews readers are by looking at that them comments section…

I loved the way ALL the comments on the bottom took everything you wrote so seriously.

“Oh, so by 12 buttons you only mean 3.”

“good job insulting your entire audience first day on the job”

and the one that made me burst out in laughter:

“getting a webcomic writer to do comedy is like getting a balerina to fix your engine in your car”

I was tempted to make an account just to reply with “WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN”

Love the ret— sorry, “informed readers” who left those …”intellectual” comments. I second what Dan said.

uh, why dont you post the demoman here too? also, can you just end nondrick so I can stop checking the page?

Congratulations Chris Bla di bla blah. Meanwhile, OMFG CHROME DOESN’T HAVE RSS FUCKING WEAK!

@ Putzy Von Putzingburg The Third: don’t bother. Nondrick is practically dead (sadly),and if he gets reanimated (probably due to Adoring Fan’s remarkable powers of resurrection),Chris will notify us.

@ Chris: there’s actually a problem. Your Week Ender was posted previous week, and because comments get locked after one week to deter spam bots, there wasn’t any posting for a couple of days. If you’re not going to organize a forum, then please, post regulary,so we can at least have a bit of discussion/news/pointlessness.

You have got to be kidding.

Manage your current resources before you get new ones! I’m so nondrick deprived, I have split into multiple personalities!

Click my name to see!

Anyway, congrats on the big job.

It’s an awesome review man, but those Shacknews commenters are too intelligent to realise that it’s for giggles. Perhaps they need a big sign saying “THIS IS JOKE. YOU LAUGH NOW.”

Excellent Demoman.

Are you planning on using the sticky bomb rating system for all of them now? I used to like the old rating system… or random nonsense system. I don’t have anything against the sticky bombs, they go with the name and match a number rating system better, but I found the old system funnier and actually more informative oddly enough.

Also - Nondrick! Shame on you for leaving us with a moral dilemma for 2+ months. SHAME!

I loved the article, man. Too bad not all of the polite, logical commenters at shacknews feel the same way. I bet the reason there are many negative comments is because 99% of the readers had seizures because of how damn funny it was.

To everyone who thinks Chris will be posting less here because of shacknews, that’s really stupid. I mean, he writes one column, so it doesn’t take him seven days in a week, which is why I imagine things will be normal here as they ever were…and good to hear Nondrick is going back online soon…

Oh sweet you’re getting into “proper” publications more.
It’s a shame that demoman wasn’t as good as your normal ones :/.
